Description:
WHAT WE DO
1. The Adult Literacy Program relies on referrals. We would welcome your clients, staff or customers who need help with literacy skills. The program will:
- Assist adults in reading, writing and numeracy skills; workplace skills related to literacy, and English as a Second Language
- Provide free, one-on-one tutoring, meeting student goals in a comfortable, confidential environment
- Match a student with a trained volunteer tutor who provides an individualized program based on the student's needs and goals.
2. The Family Literacy Program provides early literacy activities for parents and their children, newborn to age 5, in locations throughout Beaver County. This features:
- Programs where both parents & children have fun learning through stories, rhymes, songs & finger plays
- Trained facilitators that encourage development of language, cognitive, social, gross & fine motor skills
- Information & ideas for parents to help their children develop literacy skills, along with support in day-to-day parenting
- An opportunity to socialize with others in the community
